Dr Sadia Saleem

I have completed my Doctorate in 2011 from Government College University, Lahore Pakistan on emotional/ behavioural problems, self-esteem and school performance of school children. The focus of my doctoral dissertation was to identify the extent to which mental health problems were related to school performance and self-esteem in adolescents.

I have joined UMT in 2011. I have more than 11 years of teaching and research experience to MS and PhD levels. I am currently working as an Associate Professor at the Institute of Clinical Psychology, University of Management and Technology, Lahore Pakistan. I teach Health Psychology, Research Methods in Clinical Psychology, Ethical and Professional Issues in Clinical Psychology and Psychopathology and supervise research at MS level At PhD level, I teach Quantitative Methods, Cross-cultural Perspectives in Clinical Psychology and Advance Assessment techniques.

I am also extensively involved in clinical and research supervision. I have supervised more than 50 MS research dissertation and co-supervisor of 4 Doctoral theses. My main interests lie in research in school psychology, mental health of school children, family dynamics, attachment, parenting, self and identity. I have developed indigenous assessment procedures for school children including emotional and behavioural problems, self-esteem, social intelligence, bullying, and resilience and so on. I have altogether 18 publications to my name.

I have actively involved in organizing national conferences, seminars and workshops in the university. I am the sub Editor of Clinical and Counselling Psychology Review. I am the reviewer of Pakistan Journal of Clinical and Social Research. I have carried out series of workshops on research methods, indigenous scale development, APA and SPSS.

I have been an external examiner at MS level for Clinical and Research work. I am the member of the Academic Council, Financial Assistance Committee at UMT and Board of Studies, Board of Faculty Graduate Committee at ICP University of Management and Technology, Lahore. I am also involved in curriculum development of various clinical and counselling courses both at MS and doctorate level.

My current research interests are cross-cultural psychology, identity, self-regulation, family functioning, role identification, parenting styles, attachment, embitterment, ageing, nurses, teachers and marginalized populations.
